When I had my first baby, I thought I had postpartum figured out — but becoming a second time mom was a completely different experience. This time around, I realized how much the little things mattered during those first few days home. Between recovering, caring for a newborn, and still needing to show up for my older child, convenience and comfort became everything. I found myself ordering things that made healing easier, saved me time, helped me stay nourished, or simply made those long newborn days feel a little more manageable. Some were practical necessities, others were “why didn’t I buy this sooner?” items — but every single one helped make my first week postpartum smoother and less overwhelming.
And honestly, postpartum deserves more preparation than we usually give it. We spend so much time getting ready for baby, but having a few things ready for yourself can make such a huge difference once you’re home. Whether you’re a first-time mom or adding another little one to your family, I hope this list gives you a few ideas to make those early days easier, more comfortable, and a little more supported. You deserve care too!
Postpartum Items for Me
- Rael Organic Disposable Period Underwear – So much easier than using multiple products that the hospital gives you (plus these are certified organic cotton, made with non-GMO cotton grown without toxins or pesticides)
- Postpartum Pads – These are the best ones I’ve found that are actually comfortable and not as bad as the ones the hospital gives you.
- Overnight pads – Great for when you don’t need the bulky stuff anymore!
- O’Keeffe’s Working Hands Hand Cream – my hands + bottle washing + hot water = not good. This stuff is great for dry, cracked hands.
- Oversized cardigan – I live in these. I brought one to the hospital and always have one on at home.
- Extra pump parts – I love having extra parts so I’m not constantly washing things or if I forget to wash them in time.
- Eye masks – just something to feel relaxed and a little pampered!

Baby Items
- Bottle Brushes – I used these with our first kid and they are the best ones I’ve found!
- Bottle Drying Rack – I love that this one folds so if I ever don’t need it out on the counter I can store it away easily.
- Baby blanket – I had to snag a new blanket (in pink of course!) and this one is so soft!
- Baby Wipes – We always use Honest wipes and love to get the big pack so we never run out.
- Momcozy Bottle Washer – If there is anything you invest in…GET THIS! It has saved my hands from washing bottles all day and is done within an hour.
- Detergent Tablets – Grab these too when you get the bottle washer!
- Extra bottle caps – I didn’t have enough of these from our first baby and these fit the bottles we use!
- Glass bottles – I feel so much better when I use the glass bottles over plastic and we’ve used these for both kids.
- Baby healing balm – I love the stick version of this so I don’t always have to dirty my hands as much.
- Swaddles – These have been great so far!
Snacks
- Date and Nut Bars – These are so good and clean ingredients. A great toddler snack too!
- Banana Bread Mix – A yummy, clean ingredient snack.
- Freeze Dried Mangoes – A sweet and tart treat for when you’re craving something sweet. Also a great toddler snack!
-
Simple Mills Honey Cinnamon Sweet Thins – Anything by Simple Mills is always added to my cart. These are delish!
